As the NFL postseason narrows to four remaining teams, league-wide developments off the field have accelerated, creating ripple effects that extend well beyond Conference Championship Weekend. Injury updates, unexpected roster moves, and continued coaching activity are beginning to define the early stages of the 2026 offseason.

One of the most notable developments came out of Buffalo, where quarterback Josh Allen is expected to undergo a minor procedure on his injured foot, according to general manager Brandon Beane. The procedure is not anticipated to impact Allen’s participation in offseason workouts, but it adds another variable to monitor as Buffalo evaluates its long-term health outlook at the position.
Surprise Injury
Buffalo Bills
• QB Josh Allen could undergo a procedure on his injured foot, though general manager Brandon Beane said it would not impact Allen’s availability for offseason workouts.
Several teams also provided updates on key recoveries. The New York Giants expect running back Cam Skattebo to be ready for the start of their offseason program following surgery to repair a dislocated ankle suffered in October. Wide receiver Malik Nabers, who tore his ACL late in September, is trending toward a potential return by training camp. In San Francisco, defensive end Mykel Williams is expected to resume football activities around training camp after recovering from an ACL injury, general manager John Lynch confirmed.

Roster movement also produced a surprise release. Green Bay parted ways with cornerback Trevon Diggs after his brief stint with the club late in the season. Meanwhile, Lynch confirmed that wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has played his final snap with San Francisco, as contractual guarantees were voided following a season spent on the physically unable to perform list.

Coaching movement remains active across the league. Arizona scheduled a second interview with Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, while Atlanta is expected to hire former Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. Buffalo expanded its search with interviews involving Lou Anarumo, Joe Brady, and Brian Daboll. Kansas City reunited with Eric Bieniemy as offensive coordinator, and the Chargers continue discussions with Mike McDaniel amid interest from other teams. Philadelphia and Tampa Bay also completed interviews for offensive coordinator vacancies.
